Yellowstone Winter 2012 - wfreundphotography

As the coyote approached the bison for the first time, I decided to move slightly to my left to try to get a better shot. As soon as I separated from the rest of the small group of people watching, it immediately looked up and then shortly retreated from the carcass. Bob Landis quickly told me to stop moving since that really makes them nervous. The noise doesn't bother them that much, it's the movement. I stood frozen (figuratively and somewhat literary!) with my camera and eventually they returned. I had interrupted its feeding in a critical time of year just because I wanted a better shot...never again!
